It has been rumoured that Instagram will be removing its like count on posts in an attempt to reduce the 'herd mentality.' If this goes ahead then only the user posting will be able to see how many likes their post receives in an effort to encourage users to focus on what they are sharing rather than how many likes they get.
This has not been confirmed by Instagram's developers and there are no rumours about hiding followers but only the likes, which is the measure of popularity on the app. Read more here.
