Noted artisan perfumer Angela Flanders has died aged 88. She created 40 fine and individual fragrances over her working life as a perfumer, with the most recent scent being Columbia Rose which was introduced in September last year. Her East london-based perfumery recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Angela was fully involved in all aspects of the business until the end of her life, working closely with her daughter Kate and the team she gathered around her, all of whom are very much part of its future. The Angela Flanders brand will continue under her daughter’s guidance.
Vicci Bentley, perfume and beauty writer, commented: "Angela was, quite simply, unique in the world of British perfumery - someone who was refreshingly untouched by the less appealing trends and politics of the business and who always followed her nose and her heart. This of course, allowed her to create heart-stoppingly beautiful perfumes - Precious One ranks as one of the best anyone in this country (or anywhere else) has produced."
