River Island presents the latest Design Forum collaboration with British menswear designer Matthew Miller. Inspired by the brand's conceptual design philosophy, this 10-piece collection of outerwear, tops and bottoms is a modern interpretation of traditional military apparel; a fusion of functional design influences with contemporary street-wear. Stone washed parkas and combat trousers are cut from Swiss camo cloths in laundered cotton. The khaki patch pocket shirt is distinctly utilitarian garb, whilse the training sweat and hoodie are contemporary in oversized fits, cut from scuba and lightweight jersey fabrications. The muted colour palette is synonymous with 40’s army uniforms and service dress in earthy tones of khaki, olive and charcoal, complimented by rich accents of rust and pink camo. Heavily laundered T-shirts are emblazoned with graphic prints, juxtaposing the functionality of the smarter pieces in the range. Technical finishings and hardware reference military construction. Patch pockets, high shine chrome zippers and poppers feature throughout and internal shoulder straps are a versatile addition to the bomber jacket.
