The shortlist has been announced for the National Press Awards 2019. Organised by the Society of Editors, the awards recognise reporters and correspondents, commentators, columnists, cartoonists, designers, podcasts, photographers, scoops, investigations and campaigns.
There are 42 categories including the Journalists' Charity Awards, the Cudlipp Award for campaign of the year and the Georgina Henry Prize for Innovation, in memory of the former deputy editor of The Guardian and founding member of Women in Journalism.
