Press Gazette has announced a new award for The British Journalism Awards 2020. Aimed at recognising up and coming ethnic minority journalists named in honour of the UK's first black on-screen TV news reporter. Any journalists from BAME backgrounds taking advantage of the free entry process will be entered for the Barbara Blake Hannah award.

Barbara Blake Hannah has given her name to this new British Journalism Award in the hope it will help inspire other journalists to break through barriers in the way she did.

Entries for this new award and all others are open here until 30 September.
