adidas has revealed its first product made in part with Spinnova fibres. The TERREX HS1 has been created for adidas' outdoor brand TERREX and is a unisex mid-layer for hikes that also rolls into its hood for easy storage. It is made in part with Spinnova technology, which sees a minimum of 25% of the fabric coming from wood-based fibres that are mechanically grinded to avoid the use of harmful chemicals. The remainder of the product is made with organic cotton. The garment also uses less water compared to the standard dyeing process as it works with the material’s natural colour and avoids dyeing or bleaching chemicals.
adidas is an investor of Spinnova and is working to scale-up production of the company's fibres in more products. adidas said the partnership is part of its journey to create nine out of 10 pieces with more sustainable technology, material, design, or method of manufacturing by 2025.
