Vogue Business has reported the closing of Black Frame PR. The New York-based company, founded in 2004 by Brian Phillips, has represented brands such as Dior Homme and Helmut Lang. It is reported that the changing nature of the fashion industry has influenced Phillips's decision to close, as more brands' needs have changed in the e-commerce era, underpinned by the likes of Instagram and e-commerce.
Phillips told Vogue Business: " The centre of gravity for information has splintered into a million pieces. In that process, I think the power that came from being in PR has been diffused to a great degree. When I look at what the future holds, it's a fusion between the worlds of content, with film and TV and advertising. I think they're going to merge."
Black Frame will officially close its doors by 28 February, after New York Fashion Week, giving a last hurrah to its clientele participating.
