Following analysis of over 10,000,000 online conversations, Brandwatch has released its study of the top global retail brands on social media, taking an in-depth look at which prominent retailers work the hardest to maintain positive social media presence. The Social Insights on the Retail Industry study takes into account Social Visibility, General Visibility, Net Sentiment, Reach Growth and Social Engagement & Content, scoring each of the brands out of a possible 500 points.
Online retailer Amazon comes out on top, followed by peer-to-peer e-commerce site Etsy and buy-and-sell platform eBay. Walmart is the leading bricks and mortar retail business that takes the fourth spot and Target takes fifth.
Positions 5-10 in the study were held by Toys R Us, Lowes, Kohls, Sephora and Bed, Bath & Beyond, while Debenhams is the most successful UK brand on social media, exceeding all brands in the social engagement & content category. Facebook is the clear leader in engagement, with consumers nearly three times as likely to share brands’ content on the platform than they would on Twitter.
