The Daily Mail’s beauty columnist, Elsa McAlonan, has announced she is leaving the paper next month after writing a weekly beauty column for 14 years.
She said: “Writing the column has been my dream job and I’ve loved every minute of it. The team at the Daily Mail has been tremendous to work alongside, but, like many other people, a year in lockdown convinced me of the need to make up for lost time with family and friends, so I am taking a break before I move on to my next challenge.”
Prior to joining the Daily Mail in 2007, her newspaper roles included assistant editor of the Daily Record and editor of the Scottish Daily Mirror. Her magazine positions included deputy editor of Marie Claire, editor of Woman’s Journal and editor of Woman’s Own. Elsa’s last Beauty Upgrades column will appear on 5 July.
Florence Scordoulis is now the interim contact at the Daily Mail for beauty news - press releases and samples should please be sent to her.
