This week we bring you some stats regarding the colour cosmetics market. The above graph provides you with an average of the past three years’ volume of editorial mentions of colour cosmetics.
Across the beauty arena, colour cosmetics is the single most talked about subject in both off and online media. There are currently 26,600 beauty products being marketed in the press, and one quarter of them are cosmetic products. Of those, just over 2,000 are related to eye make-up and 25% of those eye products are new to the market this year.
There are 600 separate brands promoting eye products, with MAC Cosmetics getting the most overall editorial (PR) mentions. So far this year, Maybelline New York is the most heavily advertised with estimated press spend now at £1.3million. Glamour magazine attracts the highest eye-product press ad revenues at just under £2 million, and both look.co.uk and LOOK magazine dedicate more pages to eye make-up editorial content than any other title.
The most mentioned beauty product in the UK press last week was L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Mono Eyeshadow.
