Fashion industry advisor David M Watts has announced the launch of new men’s lifestyle magazine Wattswhat. Targeted at men who possess a personal sense of style, the 104-page magazine is a carefully created offering of fashion, interiors, grooming, travel and food. The first issue, Autumn-Winter 2017, will be launched on 4 September and will include a profile of fashion designer Bella Freud, who discusses the development of her menswear collection. An essay by Caryn Franklin MBE contemplates the rise of male body image challenges in today’s society. The fashion pages offer introductions to off radar menswear and accessory brands, with stunning fashion shoots and commentary on lifestyle topics such as yoga and hair care. More akin to a journal than a glossy magazine, the publication is printed in the UK on quality matt stock in a larger format than standard magazines. With cover art by the talented Andy Tuohy, widely commissioned by institutions, publishers, festivals and museums around the world, and a winter fashion feature illustrated by Brooklyn-based artist Richard Haines, Wattswhat embraces and promotes a graphic art approach to men’s lifestyle publications.
Published to coincide with fashion’s seasonal cycle, each issue will deliver key menswear and lifestyle news for the upcoming six months. Overseen with a curated steer from editor-in-chief David M Watts, fashion and lifestyle insights are provided by guest columnists and seasoned fashion writers. Wattswhat’s digital edition will reshape the way men’s lifestyle is presented online through a comprehensive use of film, click-video interactivity and demonstration video, supported in time by a dedicated e-commerce platform. Visionaries and social commentators will be invited to edit special editions of the web editorial with a focus on grooming and lifestyle.
The first issue is available to pre-order online now.
