Haircare brand, Chāmpo has announced its launch and appointed BRANDstand Communications to handle its press and publicity. Chāmpo (pronounced char-pour) combines contemporary design and the science of trichology with active botanicals and Ayurvedic principles in a modern hair care range. The pure-play British haircare brand takes inspiration from the founder’s Indian heritage: Chāmpo comes from the Sanskrit origin of the word ‘shampoo’ and describes the practice of cleansing and massaging the scalp and hair that was introduced to Britain over a century ago, creating the foundations of modern haircare.
The brand launches with three ranges to deliver a customised hair care system, based on the Ayurvedic doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha, determined by an online hair quiz. Each dosha has a unique blend of exceptional botanicals, trichologically formulated to treat and restore hair, along with a bespoke essential oil fragrance at 1% concentration, suited to wash-off products. Key ingredients include: Pitta: haritaki fruit extract, to help strengthen and nourish; Vata: king coconut and amla fruit for hydration; Kapha: turmeric root to tone.
With its pure play e-commerce model and a commitment to sustainability, Chāmpo has dispensed with secondary packaging, making use of all four sides of its square bottles to communicate information ranging from legal requirements to brand story-telling. Prices start from £18 for Shampoo (260ml) and from £20 for Conditioner (260ml).
