Leeds Fashion Initiative, which is the brain child of Leeds’ Lambert’s Yard and backed by Leeds City Council, has announced its launch. Taking placing on 25 November, the new initiative aims to develop a three year strategy to reinvigorate the city region’s fashion, clothing and textiles industries. The launch will be attended by an invited audience of 250 press, celebrities, dignitaries and fashion industry insiders and will feature a runway show, showcasing the best of independent fashion. The strategy will be developed by the Centre for Fashion Enterprise (CFE - part of London College of Fashion) and will include plans for the first Fashion Design Incubator outside London. Burberry and Aquascutum will be joined by Christopher Raeburn and Agi & Sam, all who have links to Yorkshire, either through using regional textiles (such as Hainsworth) or being from the county, as with Burberry CEO and chief creative director, Christopher Bailey.
