Beauty brand, L'Occitane has announced its in-store recycling initiative in partnership with TerraCycle. Customers can now bring their used beauty, hair and skin care products to be recycled at their closest L'Occitane store. TerraCycle accepts a wide variety of used beauty packaging.
Packaging across beauty, skincare and haircare can be recycled, including: Face mask packaging, refill pouches, soap dispensers, facial cleansers, body lotions, pumps and caps from shampoo and conditioner bottles, hair care dispensers and containers, hair product trigger heads, lip balm tubes, make-up remover bottles and pumps, fragrances bottles and pumps, and deodorant sticks.
Once collected, the items are sorted and separated by material composition. The separated items are then cleaned, shredded, and extruded into plastic pellets to be made into new recycled products such as outdoor furniture. TerraCycle recycles old beauty packaging instead of incinerating or landfilling it.
In return for helping to save the planet, customers will be getting a reward too. Every time they bring back their empty products from L'Occitane or any beauty brand, they will receive 10% off a new product.
