The luxury footwear brand Bionda Castana has announced its relaunch with a new direct-to-consumer, zero-waste strategy.
After a two-year hiatus, co-founders Jennifer Portman and Natalia Barbieri are bringing back bestsellers such as the ‘Lana’ and the ‘Nicole’ on a made-to-order basis. Each month, four limited-edition styles from the brand’s archive will be available to buy via the Bionda Castana website, where orders must be placed on the first Wednesday of the month with a five day window. The shoes are then made to order in Milan and delivered to the consumer, direct from the factory, within three weeks. By selling direct-to-consumer and making each pair using surplus material from the Bionda Castana library, the brand both eliminates the potential for waste and ensures a more accessible price point than previous collections.
