This summer, a group of chefs, artists, and activists dedicated to sustaining small scale farming in the UK, will come together to form Enroot, a traveling, grassroots kitchen that hosts farm-to-­table events in collaboration with farmers and small business. The Enroot team believes that there is an ever increasing disconnect between the food people eat and the farmers who produce it. Enroot’s goal is to bridge this widening gap between producers and consumers by removing the barrier separating them. During the months of June and July, Enroot will be traveling to farms throughout the UK where they will be producing dinners on each farm. On 3-5 July Enroot will be hosting dinners on Aston Farm just outside Bourton on Water. The food the team provides will be carefully sourced from Aston Farm and other surrounding farms, in an effort to produce a menu that reflects the produce of the Cotswolds community. The Enroot collective was cofounded by Edinburgh born Angus Buchanan Smith and his good friend DeVonn Francis. The two met at The Cooper Union College in New York and both have deep ties to food and farming. Alongside the launch, the new website hosts regular interviews with British producers from across the country. The blog follows a dynamic team hailing from New York, Edinburgh, Miami and Sweden as they journey from farm to farm in 1940's Girl Guiding tents, meeting with local farmers and creating seasonal menus. ??
