Mulberry has announced that it has stopped using exotic skins in its collections. Following years of urging by PETA and experts warning that the trade of exotic skins risks fuelling the spread of diseases like COVID-19, Mulberry has confirmed the ban on exotic skins in all of its future collections.
The SS20 season marks the brand's first-ever departure from using the skins of alligators, crocodiles, ostriches, lizards, or snakes in its designs. Mulberry already has a fur-free policy.
Mulberry's Sustainability Manager Rosie Wollacott said: "We have spent a lot of time determining and the continually reviewing our sustainability metrics and targets. At an early stage of this process, we decided not to use exotics in our collections, and this remains our position."
