In July 2018, 1,624 fragrance products were mentioned across print, online and social media in the UK and Ireland…

In this week’s report, they look at the PR performance for the fragrance category in the UK and Ireland. They analyse print and online for PR mentions as well as social media for social actions. The fragrance category includes female, male and unisex perfume and Eau de Toilette, fragrance gift packs, perfumed body spray and room fragrance.  
Looking at July 2018, they focus on brands and retailers that have performed well and trends against key metrics such as mentions, earned media value (EMV) and social engagement. 
This week’s report also presents media favourites– a selection of male and female fragrances that have performed particularly well across different media channels in July 2018.

Content Summary:

  • (UK) In July 2018, the brand Jo Loves received 35 PR mentions across print, online and social media and has seen the biggest progression when compared to the same period last year. Jo Loves was founded in 2011 after Jo Malone departed from her brand Jo Malone London in 2006. Jo Loves’ monthly progression is mainly due to Orange Butterflies, a scent which was launched in February this year. It was mentioned in 9 different publications and achieved an EMV of £12,794
  • (UK) Social Influencer Emily-Victoria Canham achieved first place in the YouTube ranking for engagement in July 2018. She posted two videos, featuring 8 different fragrance products such as Gucci’s Bloom EDP. It received 8,693 likes and 161,804 views and was worth an EMV of £17,840
  • (Ireland) Unlike the UK, where the majority of fragrance PR mentions came from Instagram, it was Consumer Magazines (29%) and the National Press (24%) that generated the most fragrance PR mentions in Ireland during July. Amongst consumer magazines it was Image Magazine and Tatler which mentioned the most fragrance products. Altogether the coverage achieved an EMV of 10,282€
