My Market Insight, the company for data, commentary, and analysis across various media platforms, has revealed its weekly beauty insight today with a focus on UK and Ireland most PR progressed brands in 2018. 

In this week’s report, they look at 10 brands who have performed particularly well this year by growing their media presence across all media platforms. Focussing on the cosmetics category, they outline how they have achieved such a rapid increase in media coverage and what media outlets and retailers are supporting their media strategy.

They analyse the performance of these brands against key metrics such as PR mentions, earned media value (EMV) and social engagement. Our top 10 this week are: ASOS, By Terry, ColourPop, Dose of Colors, Sleek, SOSU by Suzanne Jackson, Tatcha, Vita Liberata, Wet n Wild, Wunder2.* *This report only considers the above brands.

Content Summary:

  • (UK) In the period between January to September 2018, Sleek ranked first in the brand rankings for cosmetic PR mentions across all media types (print, online and social). It received 515 mentions, which is a 19% year on year increase. The majority of these mentions came from Social Influencer McNeil Beauty on Instagram. She mentioned 13 different Sleek products across 25 posts which generated a total of 53,765 likes and an EMV of £14,836
  • (UK) Online retailer Beauty Bay ranked in the top 3 recommended retailer rankings across print, online and social media. 35% of their recommendations came from Instagram and Social Influencer Holly Sturgeon in particular. Beauty Bay is known for stocking US brands. The UK launch of beauty brand Wet n Wild – exclusive to Beauty Bay – generated the majority of the retailer’s coverage this year. The most liked Wet n Wild product recommended by Beauty Bay was the Photo Focus Foundation
  • (Ireland) Similar to the UK, social media generated 75% of the PR mentions for our 10 selected brands. Around 10% of the 634 mentions across social media ‘was paid for advertorial’. A figure that suggests strong organic PR for our top 10. The most ‘liked’ paid for advertorial post came from Keilidh Cashell for SOSU by Suzanne Jackson on Instagram
