Afternoon Tea in Ankara (ATIA) is a new event programme aimed at young people aspiring to get into fashion and fuses together British and African culture. It aims to provide youngsters with an invaluable insight into what is a very competitive industry by awarding them the opportunity to partake in a range of useful and relevant activities, as well as networking events. The programme is hosted by fashion blogger Temi Otedola, who was recently featured in British Vogue and who has help positions within the industry, most recently as the official ambassador of Lagos Fashion & Design Week. The chief purpose of ATIA is to provide much needed backing to the efforts of emerging ethnic talent within fashion and the wider media. Candidates are encouraged to wear traditional attire to fit in with the theme of the events. Applicants will be required to submit a short video, up to two minutes long, expressing why they should be chosen fro the event. Alternative, there is an option to submit a short written statement. 30 applicants will be selected in total. The programme will be run biannually between Lagos and London, beginning in London on 27 February.
