Children’s charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands, NSPCC, has appointed Safi O’Shea as its new Head of Media and Campaigns, leading its work on high-impact campaigns across the UK to keep children safe and hold the Government to account on children’s policy. Safi was formerly at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Safi previously led DSIT’s media work on technology, including, prior to her appointment with the NSPCC, the landmark Online Safety Bill. This followed a 6-year period in Government across Departments including the Department for International Trade and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, with major campaigns including preparing business for Brexit and the search for the covid vaccine. Prior to her work in Government, Safi worked in agencies including Ogilvy PR.
Safi took up the post last month, with her priority in the role to generate ongoing public support for and awareness of the charity through its 24/7 press operation, as well as long-running campaigns.
