Former L'Oréal USA Executive, Joseph J. Campinell has passed away, aged 73. Joseph joined L'Oréal as the Vice President of Marketing of the L'Oréal Haircolor and Haircare brands in 1986, three months later he was promoted to General Manager.
In 1996, with the acquisition of Maybelline New York, he was promoted again to General Manager of L'Oréal Paris, merging all of the L'Oréal Paris brands: Haircolor and Haircare, Cosmetics and Skincare into one operating unit. In 1998 he became President and in 2002, Joseph was then tasked to create and run the Consumer Products Division of L'Oréa' USA, merging L'Oréal, Maybelline and ShoftSheen Carson under one division.
Frédéric Rozé, Executive Vice President of L'Oréal Americas said: "Joe Campinell was a beloved member of the L'Oréal community and one of the great architects of L'Oréal USA. A natural-born leader, Joe took the Consumer Products Division to new heights during his 25-year career at L'Oréal and made it a market leader in almost every category. He will always be remembered for building L'Oréal Haircare and Haircolor into the powerhouse it remains today."
Joseph retired from the company on 30 June 2011, exactly 25 years after his start date. He passed away on 4 April 2020 and is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Melissa Frey, two sons Eric and Mark and 10 grandchildren.
