East London born Shoe Designer, Terry de Havilland died, aged 81 on 27 November. Known as the ‘rock’n roll cobbler he made a significant contribution to footwear design and the world. His clients included David Bowie, Cher and Kate Moss. He also created shows worn by Tim Curry in his role as Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horry Picture Show.
In 1972 Havilland opened his store Cobblers to the World on the King's Road. He opened his second store Kamikaze Shoes in 1980, which saw the launch of his punk and goth style. Although both stores had closed by the end of the decade, Havilland continued to create punk and goth influenced styles under The Magic Shoe Company name with an outlet in Camden during the 1990s.
Terry de Havilland's shoes continued to be work by customers including Sienna Miller, Geri Halliwell, and Angelina Jolie. He is survived by his wife and business partner Liz, his two sons and five grandchildren.
