Richard Allan London has announced its relaunch with six limited edition prints. Known for his patterned designs and print scarves, Richard Allan was a major name in the art and fashion scene of London in the 1960s. Worn by countless celebrities, his printed silk scarf designs were iconic pieces of ar and are still collectable today. 

Richard’s daughter Cate, also a designer, worked with him in the business until his retirement and then followed her own career. In 2014, she began tracking down her father’s designs; recreating his archive, scarf by scarf. She also began reworking the colours, melding his work with hers to give a fresh, contemporary feel. Now, Cate has relaunched the business as Richard Allan London, offering both new scarves and a collection of framed limited edition art prints.  

The collection offers six Richard Allan original archive designs from the 1960s and 70s, each available in three of Cate Allan’s new colourways. Hand printed on museum grade paper in limited editions of 100, each print is embossed with the Richard Allan London seal, and produced in the UK. Each print is available in black, white, gilt or silver frames and at £990 each. Unframed prints cost £750 each. Prints include:

• Elegance: Inspired by the ribbons falling from ballet shoes and the ethereal nature of dance.
• Aster: A modern floral pattern combining an Aster and an Iris in a single flowing pattern.    
• Zen: A pattern that channels the theme of willows and water as a symbol of calm, renewal and continuity.  
• Elsa: A joyful tribute to the couturier Elsa Schiaparelli, with whom Richard collaborated.
• Dotty: Inspired by vintage pop art. 
• Hepworth: A tribute to the sculptor Barbara Hepworth.
