It has been reported that Roland Mouret has filed a notice of its intent to appoint administrators after the pandemic damaged the demand for designer dresses. News of its intention to appoint administrators, which was first reported in The Sunday Times, following earlier reports that the business, whose last available accounts for 2019 show sales of £16m, was in talks about its future.
The label is jointly owned by Mouret himself and the entertainment mogul Simon Fuller. Its London landlord Grosvenor Estates took a stake in Roland Mouret last year through a new fund intended to help tenants survive the pandemic. Sky News reported last month that the company’s investors had been discussing financing options to keep it solvent.
Earlier this year, fellow British-based couture house Ralph & Russo collapsed after sales slumped during the pandemic. It was subsequently sold to US investor Retail Ecommerce Ventures.
