Stella McCartney has announced that it will launch its first biodegradable denim collection for Autumn 2020. Continuing the brand's commitment to sustainable fabric innovation, Stella McCartney has partnered with Italian manufacturer Candiani, to create the world's first biodegradable, stretch denim created using plant-based yarns.
The COREVA stretch technology from Candiani is created using organic cotton wrapped around a natural rubber core resulting in a fabric that is free from plastic and micro-plastics. In addition, Stella McCartney fabric is made with two smart-dyeing techniques: Kitotex Vegetal, a patented biodegradable ingredient derived from mushrooms and seaweed, and Indigo Juice, which keeps indigo superficial on the yarn.
Stella McCartney's latest collection features 10 pieces in two styles made with Candiani's patented, plant-based COREVA Stretch Technology.
The Stella McCartney Autumn 2020 collection will be available in-store and online globally from May 2020.
