The Index: What can we learn from 2019? Consumer thoughts & shopping behaviours

TheIndustry.fashion in partnership with Klarna has unveiled its latest The Index, What can we learn from 2019? Consumer thoughts & shopping behaviours explained. The Index has assessed the top 100 UK brands on unbiased survey data drawn from 2,000 consumers and given them a Buzz Score that places them on a tracker. 

This month has shown that:

  • High street retailers are now almost neck and neck with value retailers as the most popular destinations for the 2,000 shoppers. 
  • The appeal of physical retail seems to be slipping with 52% of shoppers saying that they prefer shopping in-store, versus 56% in the prior month. 
  • Is heavy discounting driving more frequent purchases? 48% of consumers say they are shopping for fashion once a month or more, which is up from 46 % the prior month.

Which high street fashion retailer have you visited and shopped online or in-store over the past three months?

How the upper end and lower end of price points play out.

Lucrative niche markets: luxury and sports.
