Taylor Newspapers, publishers of the Oxfordshire Guardian and other free newspapers are entering the paid-for market with the launch of The Oxford Paper on 12 August. The new paper will be available to purchase throughout the county of Oxfordshire from multiple and independent retailers with a cover price of 60p.
Howard Taylor, MD of the group said, “The demand for our free newspapers has been such that it makes logical sense to expand into the paid-for market. It is something that we have been considering for some time and although across the country paid-for titles have been struggling to maintain their circulations we are of the opinion that what goes around comes around. By pitching The Oxford Paper at a fair price of 60p with a generous margin to the retailers we hope to further our reach in the county and by focusing on the printed newspaper we hope to re-vitalise some of the traditional values of a newspaper that we believe may have been lost to the internet”.
The Oxford Paper will cover local News and Sport, Education and Business with a comprehensive Leisure and Entertainment section.
