The British Beauty Council has announced that the UK government has introduced a newly-formed, sector-specific team dedicated to supporting Personal Care. The new sector comes after a campaign led by the British Beauty Council, the UK Spa Association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology and the National Hair & Beauty Federation. The four organisations have worked closely with the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to overcome the challenges of the past year and have highlighted the size and scope of the personal care sector as a major force in the UK.
The creation of a dedicated sector team is a first for UK hair, beauty and wellness, with positive outcomes such as raising awareness outside of the industry, allowing the government to improve its understanding of the economic value and innovation in the sector and paving the way for future financial support.
Millie Kendall MBE, CEO of British Beauty Council commented: "When the British Beauty Council formed in 2018 there was no government representation. Fast-forward two years and we have achieved this major milestone, and look forward to shining the light on the beauty industry to further showcase and improve this amazing sector in which we all work."
