Vogue Arabia announced today that international Somali-American model Halima Aden is joining the team as diversity editor-at-large. This will further bolster Vogue Arabia’s progressive history of covering important social and cultural topics, especially concerning race and social imbalances. As diversity editor-at-large, Halima will contribute a monthly column highlighting hard-hitting social topics, inspiring personalities, and committed organizations with impactful work.
“Now, more than ever, using my voice and personal experiences to educate others is at the forefront of my agenda,” shares Halima Aden. “It is with great pride that I join the team at Vogue Arabia as diversity editor-at-large. I look forward to sharing content ranging from human rights issues to race and diversity, acceptance, and inclusion.”
The announcement forms an addition to the publication’s commitment to Vogue Values, a larger commitment thought out by the editors of the 26 Vogue editions in December 2019, standing for the values of diversity, responsibility, and respect for individuals, communities, and our natural environment. It also follows the appointment of Livia Firth as Vogue Arabia’s Sustainability Editor-at-Large in January 2020.
