Vogue Italia has announced that for the first time its history it will publish a completely white cover.
Editor-in-chief, Emanuele Farneti explained: "It's a mark of respect, a blank page to be filled with imagination and creativeness. And it's a tribute to the white coats of the doctors and nurses who are saving lives."
The issue will be on newsstands from 10 April and it will bear the hashtag, for the initiative, #imagine, which is an invitation to hope and imagination at such a difficult time. It underlines the publication's respect and hope for future rebirth. It contains the first major fashion feature of the lockdown era, created over the course a week in several countries around the world by more than 40 artists of the Vogue Italia community, who used seasonal garments of their personal collections to create images of themselves, their families or distant friends via the internet.
Furthermore, the issue will contain commentary from philosophers, consumer sociologists and operates who reflect on how the fashion industry will change. It will also feature contributions from a number of fashion designers and others will write about Italy under the lockdown.
Emanuele Farneti has said thank you to the digital solidarity initiative implemented by Condé Nast, which has made the April issue of Vogue Italia available for free download.
