Hood Magazine, Scotland’s first free, glossy women’s magazine, available across the country, has announced its launch. Hood will offer readers a mix of expertly curated fashion, beauty, interiors, food and drink, travel and wellbeing content, highlighting a lifestyle that is both aspirational and modern, yet affordable, accessible and most importantly, always rooted in Scotland. Every issue will also feature exclusive, original fashion and beauty photoshoots, curated and shot by the in-house creative team.
Hood will be edited by Jennifer Crichton-Gibson, who has recently returned to her home country of Scotland after a seven-year stint in Dubai. With over 13 years of experience in print and broadcast journalism, Jennifer has written for publications including The Telegraph, Viva, Good Taste and Hello! Middle East, as well as her most recent role as editor of Good and Nomad magazines, both based in Dubai.
Alongside this, Hood will have a roster of regular columnists, including BAFTA-winning comedian and voice of Love Island, Iain Stirling, and renowned journalist Ashley Davies. Award-winning Glaswegian make-up artist Sara Hill, who’s painted the faces of A-listers including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kanye West and Grace Jones, is also joining the team, sharing her insider advice as contributing beauty editor of the title.
Aimed squarely at Scotland’s savvy professional women, Hood will offer an emotionally intelligent take on contemporary living. Created exclusively by working women, for working women, Hood prides itself on not only understanding its reader, but living her life too. Following the themes of ‘sisterhood’, ‘livelihood’, ‘neighbourhood’, ‘womanhood’ and more, Hood seeks to recognise the diverse needs and desires of modern women, and speak to its reader in the way that her friends do.
Jennifer Crichton-Gibson, editor, comments: “I am delighted to announce the launch of Hood. My team and I have worked so hard to create a magazine that we feel really speaks to modern Scotland, and we have a wonderful team of contributors on board that have brought that vision to life. My hope for Hood is that it will become a go-to publication for our readers to pick up every month and look forward to reading, to share it with pals and discuss over a glass of wine. Scotland is our ‘hood, and we think that the cool, accomplished and funny women that make it what it is deserve a magazine that celebrates them.”
Hood launches its first issue on October 1, and will be available to pick up at train stations, art galleries, museums, visitor attractions and retail hubs throughout Scotland. The title will be available to pick up and read in six major Scottish cities and beyond, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth and Stirling, with a projected readership of over 50,000.
