YouTube has announced that it is launching its short-form video experience in the US. The service, Shorts, was launched in India in September after TikTok was banned from the country. Over the next several weeks' YouTube said that it will "gradually expand our Shorts beta to the US. We plan to introduce more features as we continue to build Shorts alongside creators and artists."
Shorts allows creators to make videos splicing together footage, adding audio and captioning. Users will be able to swipe through a catalogue of algorithmically chosen videos that will be displayed on the YouTube mobile app’s home page. More features will be announced in due course.
