After the government's announcement on Friday (31 July) that a large part of the beauty industry is still unable to open, a fundraising campaign has been launched by key players in the industry. The Beauty Backed initiative is spearheaded by Caroline Hirons, globally qualified aesthetician and Sunday Times Bestselling Author, Lesley Blair, Chair of BABTAC & CIBTAC and Millie Kendall MBE, retail maven and co-founder of the British Beauty Council. The initiative exists to raise funds to provide support for the reopening of the beauty industry in its entirety.
The Beauty industry contributes over £28 billion to the economy annually. Aestheticians, therapists, clinicians and make-up artists have not been able to earn an income for over five months. The continued restrictions impacting those who carry out treatments shows that the government does not value the industry as much as others.
You can support the cause by donating via gofundme.com and by signing the Beauty Backed petition. Donations will be dispersed via the Hair and Beauty Charity, who in turn donate to the eligible individuals and businesses who apply for help to stay afloat whilst the restrictions are still in place.
